Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty will all be making appearances at the event, and we will be presenting “The Magic of Story Time” at 11am and 2pm each day. The event will be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center. For more information, check out their event website at http://ribahomeshow.com/events/fun-for-kids/
To help raise money to bring our anti-bullying program to schools that could otherwise not afford it, Kaleidoscope is planning an exciting fundraiser for this spring! The event will be open to the public, so save the date and spread the word!
The event will be held Friday, May 28th at the Scottish Rites Auditorium in Cranston, RI and will feature a family-friendly collection of Kaleidoscope Theatre songs and skits. Tickets will be $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12. All proceeds will benefit Kaleidoscope Theatre programs. Stay tuned for more details!
4. ACTING CLASSES
With the recent increase in demand, Kaleidoscope is going to start offering theatre classes for children! The first session will be an eight-week class for children in grades 3-5 (ages 8-10).
The class will be held Friday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm at the Orchard Church in Cranston, RI from April 9th – May 28th. The eight-week session will culminate in a group performance as part of the May Fundraiser. For more information, call the Kaleidoscope Theatre office at (401) 942-3637 and ask for Jamie!
5. “RAPUNZEL”
Tickets are still on sale for our annual spring production at Scottish Rites Auditorium in Cranston, RI. This year, we will be presenting “Rapunzel” on May 13th. Our enchanting adaptation closely follows the classic and timeless tale we all know and love. Lovely and lively songs create a mood of enchantment and romance as Rapunzel meets her true love and is rescued from her tower with help from the audience. It is a delightful experience the entire family will enjoy and remember!
The performance will begin at 10am and run for an hour. Tickets are only $5.50 and can be reserved by calling Kaleidoscope at (401) 942-3637. This event is perfect for class fieldtrips, but individual families are welcome to attend as well!
If your school needs help financing transportation costs to the event, check out the next blurb on available RISCA funding!
6. RISCA FUNDS AVAILABLE TO SCHOOLS AND CAMPS!
The Rhode Island State Arts Council (RISCA) has decided to designate an initial $20,000 from its federal grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to help schools with the cost of hiring buses to transport students to arts and cultural events and programs!
One such event is Kaleidoscope's performance of “Rapunzel” on May 13th! For camps and day care centers, the grant funding for the buses can also be applied to our summer 2010 summer series!
Under the terms of this new program, schools can apply for up to $400 per trip, with each school eligible to receive support for one trip per year in order to ensure that as many schools as possible can participate in this program.
To apply for funding to attend one of our upcoming spring or summer programs, check out RISCA's website at
