1. VOTE TO HELP STOP BULLYING

Kaleidoscope performer Marianne Douglas has applied to the Pepsi  “Refresh Everything” campaign. Pepsi will be giving out $250 million to the top two program proposals, and you can help make Marianne and Kaleidoscope Theatre’s BULLY programs one of the winners!

All you need to do is vote! You can vote for Marianne everyday from now through August 31st by going online to

http://www.refresheverything.com/helpstopbullyinginamerica or by texting 101886 to Pepsi (73774). Standard text messaging rates do apply but voting online is free! Please help us reach our goal!

Here is what Marianne is planning to do:

1. Complete her anti-bullying curriculum revision

2. Donate her “Strategies of Success” program to 100 schools

3. Fund the filming of the DVD's of our two anti-bullying plays

4. Help buy a much needed new van for actors to do anti-bullying shows

5. Create the middle school and college versions of her curriculum

Thank you in advance for your support!

2. JACK & THE BEANSTALK

While this summer is winding down, we hope you join us for our last summer performance on Tuesday, August 24th.  Kaleidoscope will be performing “Jack & the Beanstalk” at Rhode Island College at 11am.

This show celebrates the importance of imagination and believing in fairytales.  We hope you can join us!

This performance is also your last opportunity to pick up this year’s $100 off coupon!  Remember, this coupon can be applied to any of our school-touring shows for this coming school year. Stop by our concession stand for more details!

Kaleidoscope Theatre is looking for some new talent to tour this fall in our award-winning B.U.L.L.Y program, and they just might have a spot for YOU in their company!  We are currently seeking performers in middle school and high school as well as young adults that could pass for high school age.

Please come prepared to sing a song of your choice (a cappella or with recorded accompaniment) and to read from a script. Kaleidoscope Theatre is a professional, non-profit theatre company, and all roles are paid.

Open auditions will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 11:00am until 4:00pm at the Orchard Church, 180 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920.   We are auditioning people in 15-minute blocks so please call Kaleidoscope Theatre, (401) 942-3637, to set up an appointment.

That concludes our August newsletter!  Thanks so much for joining us on tour this summer. We’ve had a wonderful time and we hope you did too!
