6. Bring the music of Kaleidoscope home 1. UPCOMING PUBLIC PERFORMANCES Kaleidoscope will be performing “Snow White” on Thursday, May 15 at the Scottish Rites Auditorium in Cranston, RI. The show will be at 10am and is perfect for school field trips or for families with children who do not yet attend school. Kaleidoscope Theatre is proud to announce the lineup for our Summer Series 2008! Kaleidoscope will once again bring its acclaimed fairytale musicals to a theatre near you! Tickets are now on sale for our shows at the Cape
Cod Melody Tent, the South Shore Music Circus, and
the Orpheum Theatre. They will go on sale for the
Rhode Island College performances on Tuesday, May 6,
and will go on sale for the Chevrolet Theatre on
Monday, May 12! 3. OPEN AUDITIONS! Kaleidoscope Theatre is looking for some new talent, and they just might have a spot for YOU in their company! There are multiple roles open in several shows, so performers of all ages, types, and ethnicities are strongly encouraged to audition. Please come prepared to sing a song of your choice (a cappella or with taped/CD accompaniment) and to read from a script. (If you are a young adult or adult male, you are especially encouraged to audition!) Kaleidoscope Theatre is a professional, non-profit theatre company, and all roles are paid. Open auditions will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 1:00pm until 6:00pm at the Meshanticut Park Church, 180 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920. Kaleidoscope Theatre’s Anniversary fundraiser, “The Party of the Year”, will be held at the Roger Williams Park Casino on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 6 to 10pm! This is a black tie optional gala and tickets are $100 per person. ‘Save the Date’ cards have been sent out! If you did not receive one and you would like to attend the event, please e-mail your name, address, and phone number to kaleidoscope@kaleidoscopetheatre.com. Invitations will be mailed in May. BOOKING A BIRTHDAY PARTY With the recent return of gorgeous weather, Kaleidoscope’s fairytale characters have been making regular appearances at local birthday parties! Our birthday packages can include: an appearance by a fairytale character, a storybook reading, photo opportunities, coloring posters, and a gift for the birthday child! Before coming to see the production of “Cinderella” live on stage this summer, you and your family can become familiar with the show’s magical music! A CD recording of Kaleidoscope’s award winning “Cinderella” is now available for purchase online for only $14.00! For more information, click here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7. SUPPORTING OUR MEMBERS A. “High School Musical” will be performed at RISE on Broadway May 2-4 and 9-11. Several Kaleidoscopians are involved in this production including: Joe Catanzaro, Michael Ferron, Megan Gonsalves, David Gorgone, Matt Gorgone, Sam Hood, James Lambert, Dan Larson, and Cameron Marcotte, with Kaleidoscope’s Artistic Director Tommy Iafrate in the pit! Devin Carreiro (Lori in “BULLY” and the 7 of Hearts in “Alice in Wonderland”) will be playing Margie in “Bye Bye Birdie” at LaSalle Academy. The show runs May 8-10. Click here for additional information. C. Siara Padilla (Ziggy Piggy in “The Three Pigs”) is performing in Courthouse Theater's production of ”The Wizard of Oz” as the Mayor of Munchkinland! This production runs May 9-10 and May 16 and 17. Call (401) 782-1018 for tickets! D. Ben Craven (an active member of our school-touring program) and Christine Redihan (stage manager extraordinaire) will perform in Classical High School’s production of “All Shook Up”. Shows are May 23 and 24 and tickets are $7 in advance, $8 at the door. E. Alyce Hagopian (Evil Queen in “Snow White” and Mrs. Rottenmeier in “Heidi”) will be playing Lenny in Mill River’s production of “Crimes of the Heart”.
