existence of two Kaleidoscope Theatre online 'blogs!
Also, this month we'll talk about our new project
involving the production of
a "Cinderella's Holiday Ball" coloring book and
corresponding CD that will include all of your
favorite "Cinderella" music and be on sale this
coming holiday season!

1. ONLINE BLOGS
As of February 1, 2007 we have two 'blogs online of
which we'd like to make all of you aware!
The first is geared towards all of our fans and can
be found at www.kscopetheatre.blogspot.com. We hope
to use this blog to keep all of you even more up to
date. Easier to update than our general website,
this blog will have information about upcoming
events, how it feels to be out on tour, and general
goings on at the Kaleidoscope
Theatre headquarters.
The second blog, which can be found at
www.kaleidonews.blogspot.com is focused on
information for the Kaleidoscope Theatre family, but
will still be open to everyone. On this blog we'll
post upcoming events, weekly rehearsal schedules,
and call times. This blog will hopefully also be the
forum for our members to keep each other informed
about other local theatrical productions they're
involved in, audition information, and other news we
might
want to share with other members of the Kaleidoscope
Theatre family!
Check them out… any feedback would be greatly
appreciated! We can be contacted at Kaleidoscope@kaleidoscopetheatre.com
, or, just post a comment on our blog!
2. BULLY PERFORMANCE – OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
On Friday, February 23, 2007 we will be doing two
performances of
B.U.L.L.Y. (Better Understanding by Listening and
Learning about You) at the Warwick Mall! These
performances, scheduled for 1:00pm and 3:00pm, will
be open to the public, so if you’re interested in
seeing what our school touring programs are all
about, come on down!
This is also a great opportunity for teachers,
principals, and parents to come and preview the
performance and decide if it’s right to bring in to
your school. Please call us if you’d like more
information.
3. OPEN AUDITIONS!
First we'd like to thank everyone who auditioned for
us in January; the turn out was amazing and everyone
did great! For those of you who missed the first
date, we'd like to announce another upcoming day of
auditions!
On Sunday, March 4, 2007 from 2pm – 7pm,
Kaleidoscope Theatre will be holding open auditions
at the Meshanticut Park Church at 180 Oaklawn
Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920. Kaleidoscope is looking
for some new talent, and we just might have a spot
for YOU in the
company! There are multiple roles in several shows
that are open, so performers of all types, ages, and
ethnicities are strongly encouraged to audition;
however, we are specifically looking for young men
ages 15-30 for Princes, and ages 25+ for character
type roles.
Please come prepared to sing a song of your choice
(a cappella or with taped accompaniment (no vocals))
and to read from a script. Kaleidoscope Theatre is a
professional, non-profit theatre company, and all
roles are paid. Please call Nicki at Kaleidoscope
Theatre, (401) 942-3637, to set up an appointment.
We look forward to meeting you all!
4. OUR INTERN – ROSS ROBINSON
We are happy to announce the addition of Ross
Robinson to the Kaleidoscope Theatre family. Ross, a
junior at the MET High School in Providence, R.I.,
will be doing a three-month
internship with our theatre. During this time, he
hopes to learn about all the different aspects of a
touring theatre company including: bookings, acting,
tech, rehearsals, performances, and of course the
general office drudgery! Welcome, Ross!
5. "CINDERELLA'S HOLIDAY BALL"
We're are currently working on an exciting new
project that's combining the forces of Kaleidoscope
Theatre, The Homestead Group, and the CVS
Corporation. A new version of a 'Cinderella' based
coloring book and musical CD is in the works.
Recording of the music began February 12th!
Kaleidoscope is also in the process of hiring an
illustrator to produce spectacular line art drawings
for the coloring book portion of the project. We
hope to produce a single product through which
children can read, sing-along, and visualize
Kaleidoscope's version
of Cinderella, set during the holidays. It is hoped
that this project will be available at our shows and
at CVS stores nation-wide for this coming holiday
season! Stay tuned for more up to date information
as the holidays come closer and closer.
6. RIC ALUMNI NEWS ARTICLE
As many of you may already know, we were recently
featured in the Winter 2007 edition of the Rhode
Island College Alumni Publication. Since
Kaleidoscope's inception in 1977, many RIC students
and alumni have been involved in our theatre
company. The two-page spread (pages 16-17) is a
wonderful tribute to all those students and to the
college itself, for turning out wonderfully talented
individuals. The article includes: David Payton
('77) -
Kaleidoscope's Executive Director, Tommy Iafrate
('05) - Artistic Director, Rob Ferland ('05) -
Technical Director, and Nicole Frechette ('06) -
Office/Stage Manager. Kaleidoscope Theatre would
also like to thank Ellie O'Neill, the Executive
Director of the
RIC Alumni Publication, and Nancy Kirsch for making
this article possible.
7. SUPPORT OUR MEMBERS
When not working with Kaleidoscope Theatre, our
members bring their varied talents to other venues.
Here's a sampling of productions that will feature
our members in the upcoming months (in chronological
order):
A. Jennifer Drummond, who played Mother and Granny
in this past summer's production of "Little Red",
will be playing another grandmother in March! Jen
will be featured as 'Granny' in the show "The
American Dream" by Edward Albee. This production,
directed by Michael Truppi, will be presented at the
Little Theatre, Rhode Island College, from March 1-4
as Season. Seating is limited and is available on a
first come, first serve basis. Please be advised
that the RIC Box Office does not handle Growing
Stage Productions. Good Luck Jen!
B. Eric Desnoyers, last seen at Kaleidoscope as the
Prince in "Cinderella's Christmas", will be
directing "James and the Giant Peach", this coming
spring for Encore Repertory Theatre. Cameron
Connaughton (Doc in "Snow White" and Pinocchio in
"Pinocchio") was cast as James. This show will be
presented at the Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket, RI
from March 23-25.
For up to date information about this production,
visit Encore's website at www.encorerepco.org .
C. Also that weekend will be the opening of "All
Shook Up" at Bishop Hendricken High School, which
will feature a performance by Graham Duff in the
role of "Dennis"--the young aspiring dentist. Graham
was last seen on the Kaleidoscope Theatre stage as
Jack in "Jack & the Beanstalk" last summer. This
production will run March 23, 24, 30, and 31 at
7:00pm and March 25 at 2:00pm.
D. Jamie Dellorco, last seen as Putricia in
"Cinderella's Christmas", along with fellow
Kaleidoscopian Michael Marchak, has been cast in the
Academy Players production of "A Chorus Line". For
those familiar with this play, Jamie will be playing
Bebe and Michael will be
Mark. Production dates are April 20-22 and 26-29.
For more information, check out their website,
www.academyplayers.org
E. "Thoroughly Modern Millie" will be performed this
spring at Woonsocket High and will feature
performances by our Cinderella, Emily Luther (as
Millie) and by our Assistant Technical Director
Chris Cournoyer (as Jimmy). More details will follow
in the coming months!
Well, that concludes this month's edition. Exciting
things keep happening for us here at Kaleidoscope
Theatre, and this month has provided many more
examples to add to the
already long list! We will enjoy continuing to
inform you of our new developments as they progress,
not only in our newsletters, but on our online blogs
as well! Thank you for your continued interest in
Kaleidoscope, and we hope to meet many of you at our
next round of auditions in March!
